YES. This is very true. I actually remembered I needed to tweet when I saw Chris’ tweet because I’d actually done that interview weeks back and was waiting for it to publish. Matt’s team coordinated it with Billboard — the structure, the timing of publication to maximize attention, etc. It’s a mutually beneficial thing, we want to be talking about Matt when people are searching for him. Although I have no insider knowledge, but gut is Chris and Darren both got sent courtesy reminders from either their PR people or Matt directly about the album being out, and asked to tweet to support their friend and colleague. That’s just a random educated guess based on how you see them all tweet about their friends with the correct hashtags and links all the time during releases. It’s still clearly their choice to actually send something out, though.

When I write about Darren on tour and it’s more in-depth than an armchair analysis from home, I coordinate with his publicity and management team for the access I need, I give them an outline of what kind of piece I want to do, etc.
